One Run Not Enough for Giants
The Chicago Cubs scooped up a win at AT&T Park, dumping the San Francisco Giants, 2-1. Mordecai Brown, who is tied for 8th in the NL in complete games with 1, was essential to his team's success. The Cubs now own a record of 28-24.

Anthony Rizzo had a big solo home run for the Cubs in the top of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a slider from Joe McGinnity and swatted a home run to right. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cubs ahead, 2-0.

Rizzo attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
