The Los Angeles Angels earned a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, knocking off the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. On the bump for Los Angeles was left-hander Jarrod Washburn. He had a starring role in the triumph. Los Angeles is now 19-30.

Los Angeles went up, 2-1, on Fred Lynn's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Lynn hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Kansas City pitcher Bret Saberhagen shaking his head.
