Brewers Outdo Marlins in Extra Innings
|
The Milwaukee Brewers did just enough to secure a victory over the Miami Marlins, 4-3, in 11 innings at Marlins Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Pete Vuckovich. Rollie Fingers picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-0. Livan Hernandez was tagged with the loss. The save went to Dan Plesac, number 2 for him.
Milwaukee won the game in part because of Prince Fielder. The first baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Brewers ahead, 4-3. For the game, Fielder had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We had a chance to win," said Miami manager , "but we didn't get it done."
The Brewers win now puts them at 25-25.
