Kansas City Charts 4-2 Win Over Los Angeles
|
Los Angeles got a terrific performance from pitcher Dean Chance, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City won the Angel Stadium of Anaheim contest, 4-2. Chance threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Joakim Soria. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Kansas City is now 23-25, while Los Angeles is 18-29.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Salvador Perez to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Royals on top, 3-2. For the game, Perez had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Perez called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
