Texas Stopped, 6-2, by Detroit
|
Harry Heilmann impressed in the 6-2 Detroit win over Texas. Heilmann was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the save was 30-year old left-handed pitcher John Hiller. Detroit currently is in 4th place in the American League Central Division at 20-26.
Heilmann contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Detroit in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Heilmann took a fastball from Nolan Ryan and stroked the home run to left-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 4-2.
Heilmann called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
