The New York Yankees beat the Chicago Cubs, 6-3, at Wrigley Field. Babe Ruth, in particular, was impressive. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Ruth yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-1. Mariano Rivera nailed down the save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mickey Mantle? The New York center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-1. For the game, Mantle had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Mantle told the New York Times.
New York is now 25-21, Chicago 25-21.
