Royals Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Kansas City Royals claimed a close win over the Chicago White Sox, due in large part to Bret Saberhagen. The Kansas City right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Saberhagen got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. So far in 2014, Kansas City is 21-24.
Mike Sweeney took Chicago hurler Ed Walsh deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Royals on top, 2-1. In all, Sweeney had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Chicago skipper .
