Larkin, Reds Romp Over Nationals, 11-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds scored a convincing win at Nationals Park, defeating the Washington Nationals, 11-3. One of the hitting stars was 32-year old shortstop Barry Larkin who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The 4th-place Reds have won 4 in a row.
Cincinnati used the hitting of Johnny Bench to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Reds on top, 5-0. For the game, Bench had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Cincinnati manager .
