The Cincinnati Reds earned a win at Citizens Bank Park, knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2. On the bump for Cincinnati was right-hander Mario Soto. He had a starring role in the triumph. In 8.2 innings, Soto surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. At 22-21, the Reds claim last place in the National League Central Division.
Eric Davis delivered a big hit for Cincinnati. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Every loss stings," said Philadelphia manager . "This one is no exception."
