San Francisco Victorious, 6-2, Versus Miami
|
San Francisco starter Joe McGinnity pitched well against the Miami Marlins at AT&T Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. McGinnity yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-3. The Giants, now 25-18, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Buster Posey had a big solo home run for the Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Francisco leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Sandy Alcantara and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Giants on top, 4-2.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said San Francisco skipper .
