Texas Loses, 3-2, to Boston in 13
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, knocking off the Texas Rangers, 3-2, in 13 innings. Starting pitcher Jon Lester played a key role in the triumph. Tom Gordon zipped up his 1st save. The Red Sox move to 21-16 with the win, while the Rangers drop to 14-24.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Wade Boggs to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. For the game, Boggs had 1 home run and 1 single in 2 at-bats.
"Jon gave us a really strong effort," said Boston manager .
