The Houston Astros eked out a 3-2 win versus the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Nobody did more than pitcher Joe Niekro. He was terrific. Niekro got the win, improving to 5-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 5 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Larry Andersen nailed down the save.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jose Altuve? The top prospect Altuve stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Houston up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.

After the game, Houston manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

With the win, Houston has a record of 18-20. Baltimore falls to 17-19.
