Short Boss in 3-0 Philadelphia Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a magnificent performance from pitcher Chris Short, who muffled the Chicago offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Phillies win at Wrigley Field. Erskine Mayer earned the save for Philadelphia, his 1st. The win gives Philadelphia a record of 3-1.
Short, who leaned on his curveball, allowed no runs on just 2 hits over 7 innings for the Phillies. For the most part, Chicago hitters were simply overmatched.
"Chris commanded the zone from bottom to top," said Philadelphia manager .
