Mets Make It 4 In a Row with 10-2 Triumph Over Philadelphia
|
New York beat Philadelphia in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The New York Mets thumped the Philadelphia Phillies, 10-2, at Citi Field. Jeff McNeil was a big reason his team got the win. McNeil went 4-4 with 4 singles. He scored 3 runs. Jerry Koosman claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. His record stands at 2-0. Bobby Parnell picked up his 1st save of the season.
The Mets got a big hit from right fielder Darryl Strawberry. In the bottom of the sixth, Strawberry smacked a 3-run home run off Philadelphia pitcher Schoolboy Rowe. It was his 6th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Mets were ahead, 4-2.
In postgame remarks, Mets manager praised McNeil. "JT makes my job a whole lot easier."
The second-place Phillies have dropped 5 straight games.
