Dodgers Need Extra Innings to Top Marlins, 3-2
The Los Angeles Dodgers faced a tough opponent in Miami pitcher Jose Fernandez, but still scratched out a win at Marlins Ballpark by a final score of 3-2 in 11 innings. Fernandez went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Los Angeles reliever Takashi Saito picked up the win to move to 1-0. Kevin Gregg suffered the loss. With the win, Los Angeles lifts its record to 13-19.

Roy Campanella helped out the Los Angeles cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher was 1-4.

Campanella told a Los Angeles Chronicle reporter that he felt "elated" after the win.
