Seattle Beats Houston, Goes to 22-8
|
The Seattle Mariners got a stellar performance from pitcher Randy D Johnson, who handcuffed the Houston offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Minute Maid Park. Kazuhiro Sasaki picked up his 11th save of the season. The Mariners have hit the ground running, raising their record to 22-8. While it's still too soon to talk about Seattle hoisting their 1st Round 3 trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Seattle won the game in part because of Ichiro Suzuki. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Mariners ahead, 2-0. For the game, Suzuki had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Suzuki called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
