The excitement level at Target Field reached a crescendo in the final at-bat.

Minnesota pitcher Firpo Marberry had a large part in his team beating the Baltimore Orioles, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The loss drops the Baltimore record to a disappointing 11-18.

Heinie Manush was the walk-off hero for Minnesota. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Twins pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We gave it the old college try," said Baltimore manager . "But the old college try wasn't good enough."
