Alvarez Spins No-Hitter
|
Tampa Bay is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Wilson Alvarez.
The 24-year-old hurler was dominating against the Boston Red Sox, leading the Rays to a 1-0 win at Fenway Park.
"I could tell early on that it was going to be a long day for us," Boston manager said afterward. "He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."
Alvarez had 10 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk en route to the no-hitter.
"Yeah, this was a special day for me," Alvarez said. "I had my good stuff and good movement. Good location, too. Even when I made a mistake, I got away with it today."
This year, Alvarez has recorded a 1-3 mark. In 6 starts he has fanned 36 batters in 38.2 innings with a 5.12 ERA.
