Mariners Reel Off Another Win
Red Ruffing pitched well, but the New York Yankees still lost the game, falling, 4-3, to the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium. Picking up the save was 33-year old right-handed pitcher Kazuhiro Sasaki. Early on, the Mariners, at 20-7, have piled up the wins.

Seattle used a well-timed hit by Carlos Guillen to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame remarks, Guillen hailed his team's "grit."
