|
Led by 22-year-old Ted Williams, the Boston Red Sox downed the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-5. Williams was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Boston. Jon Lester, the winning pitcher, is now 4-0. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2. The Blue Jays, 12-12, continue their so-so start to the 2014 season.
Jimmy Collins hit a run-scoring triple off Doyle Alexander in the top of the first, which put the Red Sox in front, 1-0. Collins had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
