Red Sox Pull Out Late-Game Win, 1-0
|
The umbrellas came out during the Boston-New York contest at Fenway Park.
Starting pitcher Smoky Joe Wood gave the Boston Red Sox a rock-solid effort. The Kansas City, Missouri native helped his team defeat the New York Yankees, 1-0, at Fenway Park. Boston goes to 15-8.
Boston took a 1-0 lead on Earl Webb's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Webb hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Rich Gossage visibly frustrated.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Webb told the Boston Times.
