The New York Mets scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field. New York pitcher Dwight Gooden held his own in the contest. Skip Lockwood closed out the game, earning his 7th save. The loss lowers the St. Louis record to 13-10.

New York took a 4-3 lead on Pete Alonso's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Alonso hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher Todd Worrell visibly frustrated.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Alonso told the New York Citizen.
