The Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 5-4. Cincinnati designated hitter Joey Votto deserved the lion's share of the credit. Votto hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Reds. Jose Rijo earned the win, while 27-year old right-handed pitcher Howie Camnitz took the loss for Pittsburgh. The loss makes Pittsburgh 13-9.

It could have been a different outcome for Cincinnati, had it not been for Eric Davis, the speedster . Davis contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Cincinnati up, 3-0.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Votto said.
