Minnesota Grabs 5-1 Road Win
|
Firpo Marberry imposed his will on the Rays from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Minnesota triumph. Al Worthington earned the save, his 1st, for the Twins. The loss makes Tampa Bay 10-11.
Minnesota used a well-timed hit by Joe Mauer to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Twins ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Mauer.
