Braves Improve to 11-9 with 5-4 Win
|
Atlanta registered a win at Turner Field by beating the Miami Marlins, 5-4. Pitcher Phil Niekro was one reason why the Braves triumphed. Atlanta sits at 11-9 in the early going.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Hank Aaron came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Miami pitcher Chris Hammond, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Atlanta on top, 5-4.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Atlanta manager .
