Reds Win, 7-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-3. Cincinnati pitcher and Dominican Republic, native Mario Soto led the way. Eppa Rixey earned the save, his 1st, for the Reds. The loss drops Chicago to 10-7.
Eric Davis had a big 2-run home run for the Reds in the top of the second inning. With Cincinnati trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Mordecai Brown and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 2-1.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Davis.
