The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Petco Park, topping the San Diego Padres, 4-3. On the mound for San Francisco was left-hander Hooks Wiltse. He played a principal role in the triumph. The win went to Sergio Romo in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Luke Gregerson took the loss. Rod Beck nailed down the save.
It could have been a different outcome for San Francisco, had it not been for Mel Ott, the 20-year old right fielder . Ott contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put San Francisco up, 4-2.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Wiltse.
San Francisco has a record of 12-7.
