Braves Edge Past Mets, 7-6
The Atlanta Braves needed 15 innings to beat the New York Mets, 7-6, at Citi Field. Hank Aaron, for one, had a fine performance. He slugged 2 home runs. Gene Garber notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The loss drops New York to 9-8.

Eddie Mathews delivered a big hit for Atlanta. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Braves ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said New York manager .
