Buhner goes 3-for-4 as Mariners Squeeze Past Miami
The Seattle Mariners beat the Miami Marlins, 8-7, at Marlins Ballpark. The win was due in part to right fielder Jay Buhner, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Kazuhiro Sasaki earned the save, his 6th, for the Mariners. With the loss, Miami sinks to 9-9.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Edgar Martinez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Miami pitcher Bryan Harvey, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 8-7.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Martinez said.
