Chicago Defeats Texas, 5-1
|
The Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers, 5-1, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Starting pitcher Red Faber was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Faber yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. The Rangers continue "in the red" at 6-12.
Chicago used the hitting of A J Pierzynski to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the White Sox on top, 4-1. For the game, Pierzynski had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Faber.
