Pittsburgh Gets 8-7 Win Against Brewers
The Pittsburgh Pirates powered past the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-7, at PNC Park. Phil Garner provided some of the pop. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bob Veale picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Teddy Higuera suffered the loss. Pittsburgh is now 10-8.

The Pirates got a big hit from first baseman Willie Stargell. In the bottom of the sixth, Stargell smacked a bases-clearing double off Milwaukee pitcher Teddy Higuera. It was his 3rd double of the season. Suddenly, the Pirates were ahead, 7-5.

"I was seeing the ball well tonight," said Stargell.
