Almost There: San Diego On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 6-2 Win

The San Diego Padres moved to within one game of the Round 3, downing the Atlanta Braves on the road at Turner Field by a score of 6-2. Padres right-hander Jake Peavy had a strong outing. He threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Padres a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
It could have been a different outcome for San Diego, had it not been for Manny Machado, the 30-year old third baseman . Machado contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put San Diego up, 1-0.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," San Diego manager told reporters.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Turner Field in Atlanta.
