Game 5 was big. So was Lefty Gomez.

The New York starter rose to the occasion at Progressive Field, leading the Yankees to a crucial 5-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Gomez threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run as the Yankees won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Cleveland had the makings of a rally. The score was 5-1, New York, with two out and the bases loaded. But on a 1-1 pitch, Jose Ramirez lined out.
