The Atlanta Braves faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jesse Tannehill, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Round 1, which they now lead 1-0. The Braves won, 7-4, at Turner Field, despite the Pirates getting a strong start from left-hander Tannehill, who went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs.

Had Marcus Giles not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Giles hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Braves.

Pirates manager did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Round 3."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Turner Field in Atlanta.
