After eliminating the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 in the Round 1 at Petco Park, the victorious San Diego Padres will now move on to the next round: the Round 2.

San Diego beat Milwaukee 4-2 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Padres third baseman Manny Machado, who knocked in 4 runs, hit .480 and scored 7 times.

"The guys were all chanting 'M-V-P' when I went into the clubhouse," Machado said later, with a smile. "It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here."

The San Diego Padres will play against the Atlanta Braves in the next round. Atlanta won their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
