Win Goes to Mariners in Tight Contest
Safeco Field played host to some dramatic action.

The Los Angeles Angels could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dean Chance into a win. Instead, the Seattle Mariners prevailed, 3-2. Chance threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. With the victory, the Mariners record stands at 90-72.

The Mariners were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when speedster Ichiro Suzuki landed a big blow. He turned a full count changeup from Troy Percival into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Safeco Field denizens into a frenzy and sent the Mariners home with a thrilling 3-2 win.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Suzuki. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
