Giants Deal Padres 5-4 Defeat
|
Behind the hitting of Travis Jackson, the San Francisco Giants stopped the San Diego Padres, 5-4. Jackson went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Giants. Christy Mathewson got the win, improving to 14-11. He worked 8 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. With the win, the Giants have a record of 82-80.
Jackson had a timely hit for San Francisco in the bottom of the sixth. With San Francisco trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-0 fastball into a grand slam home run. It was his 15th home run of the season, making it 4-1, San Francisco.
"I just tried to put the barrel on it," said Jackson.
