The New York Mets besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Houston third baseman Alex Bregman by beating the Astros, 5-3, at Citi Field. Bregman was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the save was John Franco. He's now 17 for 21 in save chances. The Mets, at 81-80, sit in third place in the National League Eastern Division.

Pete Alonso hit a run-scoring double off Gerrit Cole in the bottom of the third, which put the Mets in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Alonso had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
