The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, taking down the Texas Rangers, 3-2. Starting pitcher Eddie Plank was a big reason why. Plank yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 10-16. The win elevated the Athletics to 94-67.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Athletics had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when right fielder Al Simmons hit a 2-run single. The single came off Dick Bosman and made the score 3-0, Athletics. Simmons was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.

"Bottom line," said Texas skipper , "we didn't play well enough to win."
