Cubs Rally Late to Nip Brewers
The Chicago Cubs faced a tough opponent in Milwaukee pitcher Pete Vuckovich, but still scratched out a win at Miller Park by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Vuckovich went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Randy Myers, who is tied for 7th in the NL in holds with 13, picked up the win in relief. Derrick Turnbow took the loss for Milwaukee. Sean Marshall earned his 38th save, after closing out the game.

Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Sammy Sosa to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-3. For the game, Sosa had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Sosa said his team "played with a purpose."
