Pirates Rally to Nose Past Cincinnati
|
Pittsburgh turned a fine outing from starter Jesse Tannehill into a victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The final score was 3-2. Pittsburgh is now 89-71. Cincinnati is 78-82.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jason Kendall came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Aroldis Chapman, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pittsburgh on top, 3-2.
"I like that statistic at the end of the game where there's another run for our team than the other team has," said winning manager .
