Red Sox Rebuff Rays, 3-1

Starting pitcher Dutch H Leonard was a major factor in the 3-1 Boston Red Sox triumph over the Tampa Bay Rays. Leonard, now 12-12, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Jonathan Papelbon recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 37 for 42.
Carl Yastrzemski had a big 2-run home run for the Red Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from David Price, who is tied for 5th in the AL with a 8.7 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Red Sox on top, 3-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Leonard said after the game.
Boston is second in the American League Eastern Division with a record of 83-76.
