Nationals Top Mets in Extras, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals needed 10 innings to beat the New York Mets, 4-3, at Nationals Park. Tim Raines Sr, for one, had a fine performance. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3. Washington is now 68-90, New York 79-79.
The Nationals procured the win, in large part because of second baseman Alfonso Soriano. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
Washington manager called it "a darn good win."
