Dodgers second baseman Jackie Robinson left his mark on his team's 8-4 win over the San Francisco Giants. Robinson, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in stolen bases with 52, went 2 for 5 with a double, while scoring 3 runs for Los Angeles in the contest. The winner was Jay Howell in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Christy Mathewson took the loss. The Dodgers win now puts them at 81-77.

Robinson had a big at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Dodgers went on to win.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Robinson. "You've got to get results."
