Slide Continues for Royals
|
Houston right fielder Kyle Tucker made his presence felt in the 6-5 Astros triumph over the Kansas City Royals. Tucker went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Gerrit Cole earned the win for Houston. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-2. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Astros hope to make a postseason run.
Jeff Bagwell had a big solo home run for the Astros in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Houston leading 5-2 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Bret Saberhagen and swatted a home run to right. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 6-2.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Tucker told the Houston Chronicle, "and we played pretty well tonight."
