Belle Stars in 6-1 Win for Cleveland
|
The Cleveland Indians beat the Kansas City Royals, 6-1, at Progressive Field. Cleveland left fielder Albert Belle had the hot bat. He went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Cleveland pitcher Bob Feller got the win. He's now 14-11. Mark Gubicza was tagged with the loss. The Indians, at 83-75, sit in first place in the American League Central Division.
Cleveland took a 5-1 lead on Belle's 11th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Mark Gubicza in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Cleveland to the win.
Belle said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
