The Houston Astros picked up a win at Minute Maid Park, knocking off the Seattle Mariners, 5-4. Starting pitcher Gerrit Cole played a key role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Cole surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Houston is third in the American League Western Division with a record of 81-75.
Houston right fielder Kyle Tucker said the only thing on his mind when he came to bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the sixth was making good contact. He did that much, and more! Tucker hit a 2-run home run to stake Houston to a 3-1 lead. His 28th home run of the season came off Seattle pitcher Erik Hanson.
"Gerrit is still learning," said Astros manager . "The sky's the limit for him."
