Loss Tarnishes Fine Performance by Mantle
The Toronto Blue Jays besoiled an otherwise fine performance by New York center fielder Mickey Mantle by beating the Yankees, 12-8, at Yankee Stadium. Mantle went 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 and driving in 2. Toronto is now 81-74, New York 98-57.

One big at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the seventh inning. Josh Donaldson, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in home runs with 37, hit a run-scoring single off New York pitcher Spud Chandler. The Blue Jays went on to win the game.

"This game had a little bit of everything," said Donaldson.
