Seattle Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma turned in a top-notch performance against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The result was a win for the Mariners, 4-2. Iwakuma got the win, improving to 11-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Kazuhiro Sasaki closed the door for Seattle, picking up his 32nd save of the year.

Ichiro Suzuki drove in one run for Seattle. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Suzuki, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in stolen bases with 63, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Houston hurler Shane Reynolds, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead.

"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Iwakuma.

The Mariners win now puts them at 84-70.
