The Minnesota Twins topped the Cleveland Indians, 4-3, in American League action at Target Field. The standout performance belonged to Minnesota pitcher and The United States, native Firpo Marberry. The winner in relief was Eddie Guardado. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 6-6. The Twins saw their record improve to 67-86.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the tenth inning. That's when designated hitter Chuck Knoblauch stepped to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.

"I thought Firpo threw the ball well across the board," said Minnesota manager .
